Happy Mother's Day

I always realize on birthdays and special holidays that I don't show people that I care enough. For example, today is Mother's Day. My moms weekend started with some DELICIOUS chocolate covered strawberries from my sister and Mark. They spent the morning with my mom on Saturday going to River Road Pottery for a little shopping spree!

That night we had a nice little picnic (burgers and pasta salad) on the patio watching the Pirates game with our family. Pirates won so that was a plus! There is nothing I love more than sitting outside by a fire surrounded by family. Stef and Mark had to go back home last night so I was left to fend for myself for Mother's Day.

I got up and ran to Walmart to get my groceries for the week and a few things to make for my mom for lunch. My mom loves roast, but I couldn't find a decent looking one... I'm very picky about my meats. My friends in the Giant Eagle meat center have me spoiled! While I was there I awkwardly kept running into a guy who pulled in right before me. I named him Mr. Mustang because that's what he was driving. We ran into each other in the meats, paper products, windshield washer fluid, tissue paper, and then finally back at the flowers. We were both looking at flowers and he talked me into buying a nice bouquet for my mom. It didn't take much convincing seeing as that I'm a sucker for buying gifts.

I got home, unloaded my groceries and my mom spotted the flowers before I was even in the house... not so sneaky, eh? She also busted into her gift bag. She is now a proud owner of a Pirates Alex and Ani, a St. Christopher visor clip (blessed by a friends brother), and a new pair of fabric scissors -- made for a lefty! After she opened her gifts,  I started to make my mom a killer lunch. We had pork roast, smashed potatoes, peas, and cucumber and tomato salad. I really surprise myself at times in the kitchen. The pork roast was an apple flavored one. We took the pork roast and added some spices and tossed it in the oven. We then went out into the sun for a little Vitamin D.

I'm not going to lie, I'm a little crisp now but it was completely worth it. We both took out a book to read and watched a little of the Pirates game. I went back in a little early to make the rest of lunch. All in all, I'd say it was pretty good. I was stuffed after eating, but trust me... I saved some room for ice cream.. it is a special occasion after all! :)

I just wanted to take the time to wish all the moms out there a wonderful day. It breaks my heart walking through Walmart knowing that all of those moms, sons, and daughters don't get the time to spend with their mom like I did. I definitely took advantage of my time.  Happy Mother's Day, Maja! :)
