There were some days I never thought that graduation would come. When I was taking my Praxis, I was deathly sick with a mix of swine flu and pneumonia. I didn't know if I passed in order to student teach starting in January and graduate in the spring. I don't remember much about actually taking the test, but I do remember my mom driving me to and from the test and just being so tired. The day, I got my test results saying I passed, was definitely a day of Starbucks celebration!
Yepppp... That's me in 2010! I survived student teaching and loved every
minute of it. My hair was WAY too blonde for it's own good, but I had a killer summer job
lined up with Evergreen Boys & Girls Club as a program assistant. I was able to use my bachelor's degree in Business Education just days out of college. Although I wasn't teaching business classes, I was in charge of a staff and a group of middle school children and we were responsible for teaching them various lessons while keeping them active. It was AWESOME!
As I stood in
Eberly Business College for one last time, I was just hoping and praying that a
district close to home would have an open business position so I could start
my permanent teaching career. By July 2010, I had officially secured a teaching position in a district that was known for its technology! My parents were both relieved that not only my hard work, but their hard work was paying off too. You see, my parents put my sister and I through college so we wouldn't have student loan debt to pay off fresh out of college. They tag-teamed the whole process. Dad paid for the tuition and fees and mom paid for my housing. Most college kids aren't luckily enough to have parents who are able to do this, but my sister and I were. I seriously had it made! My dream job in a high technology school district AND I was debt free! WOOO!
Fast forward to March 2013... I had over $20,000 in debt from my masters degree, I had a serious knee issue to where I couldn't walk for almost 4 months and needed surgery, and to top that all off, my world was turned upside down and I was also mourning the death of my grandma. Everything was a jumbled mess. I went on autopilot for the rest of the school year and busted my butt through physical therapy.
One week into physical therapy, I saw a post show up on my timeline from a girl I went to college with saying she was starting a health and fitness challenge group. I had NO idea what it was, but I was ALL IN. I wanted my body back. I wanted my life back. I wanted to be able to walk. She told me how to sign up and I bought my first ever challenge pack.... well, kind of... I ordered the wrong thing and then called customer service and they so kindly helped me switch it to one.
Within a week of buying my challenge pack, I was an official Beachbody Coach. My coach, Sarah, messaged me and asked me about it and I was hesitant at first. I mean, I could barely walk at this point, but I decided if I got 25% off Beachbody products I was in (easy decision). I mean, I had the nutrition part down due to being allergic to a TON of things and I was pretty damn motivated to workout to get my body back; it seemed like a no brainer.
I mean, I went to college for BUSINESS education. I know the basics that I need to know on how to be successful. I had my Accounting, Marketing, and Introduction to Business classes in college. I HAD THIS! But then I looked at my Facebook friends... I had under 150. You see, I was a super private person. I didn't want anyone to know my business, but I knew I had to share. This is where this business got tricky. I never took a sweaty selfie class or a food photography 101 class in college. I never took a "how to be open and share your story" class either. I really had to step out of my comfort zone! Point of this: ANYONE can do this. I'm here to help you with the business side! Anyone and everyone can share their story. Why not have a business teacher as your uplink!?
Well mom and dad, LOOK AT ME NOW! That simple 4 year degree from IUP is paying off now more than ever. I'm building my own health and fitness business that I am able to run effectively because of my background knowledge. I'm a better educator because of my real world experience and I'm a better coach because I know the needs of my challengers from being in a classroom for the last six years. I will be able to spend my time with my children if God decides to bless me with them someday. I will be able to spend my summers laying by the pool helping people work on their health and fitness goals. Now it is my time to pay it forward. I definitely will not forget everything that you have done for me. Thank you, mom and dad!!!!
With that said, summer is coming quickly. I am ready to train 5 to 10 new coaches BEFORE summer gets here. So let me ask you this... Why not you!? Are you interested in
getting happy and healthy before summer all while earning some extra cash on the side? It is
possible! You just have to take it one day at a time.
If you think you might be interested in a coaching position on my team and to have the opportunity to have that extra spending money, please fill out the application below. I will be in touch shortly! Click here to sign up to have me as your coach!
